Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. After moving to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma attended The Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma realized she would like to be an actor and for many years she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned singing dancing and acting. Her performances had been in several Stagecoach as well as school plays when she turned ten. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma through her Oxford theatre instructor. After eight consecutive auditions, producer David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were cast as the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's film debut coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It was also the most successful film during 2001. Its opening days and weekends of sales were record-breaking. Reviewers praised the film, particularly those who were young. The Daily Telegraph in Britain that is distributed widely and widely read, praised her performance as admirable. Emma was awarded five nominations for her outstanding performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of a Film.
